Poda is the second artist’s book released by The Orange Republick collective. This 100-page manual documents the pruning of the Citrus Aurantium, commonly known as the Bitter or Seville Orange, along Manzana street in the Macarena neighborhood of the city of Seville. Interspersed with text appropriated from the ‘Naranjo Amargo de Sevilla’, a treatise elaborated by Sabina Rossini Oliva and José Elías Bonells and available through the city council. The selected excerpts inform users about the care given to the emblematic icons that line the streets of Seville.

As with any artwork by the collective, Poda is a call to action to defend the green elements that surround us. The work utilizes the symbology of the city council to shine a light on the treatment of the trees that provide oxygen and shade, fruit and the sweet smell of spring blossoms.
